Ingatkah kita ketika waktu kecil selalu bertengkar masalah hal-hal sepele?

Read the rest of this entry »

HOMESCHOOLING

Nowadays, homeschooling becomes more popular in our country. Many parents choose this type for their children due to various matters. Anyway, up to now, homeschooling, yet, is still a pro-contra for many people. Not all parents agree with this kind of teaching-learning activity. They still doubt with the method used by homeschooling practitioners for improving the knowledge of the children. Here are the positive and negative sides of homeschooling:

The positive aspect of the homeschooling method is the children have many option to what they want to learn. They free to decide what they want to explore and when they want to study. The parents can also have plenty time for their children because they need not to wait their children’s school hours over. The children will have less homework so they can join extracurricular activity. Furthermore, the oppression, competition, and boredom are the typical things from regular school. Brawls, cigarettes, even drugs are the terrifying stuffs that can emerge in regular school society if the parents do not have much time for their children, it would be a disaster for the family. By homeschooling, those stuffs can be avoided.

However, there are some negative effects of homeschooling, like the cost of it is more expensive than the regular school. For the parents who just begin developing their career, financial is one of the big problems. The children can’t measure their ability and can’t compare to other children. And the most important thing is the lack of interaction among their peers from different level status. Whereas, the children need to have precious experiences to learn in society

To conclude that homeschooling can be an alternative way which places the children as subjects with the parental approach for their education. The parents should be able to manage what their children need, adjusted with their children’s characteristics and potency because the children have rights to get the proper education. Education must not bridle children’s imaginations to develop their own potency. Therefore, the parents should find the “fun” education and not bridle their creativities that will be meaningful for the children.
